Jodie PalfreyMy name is Jodie Palfrey and I am the manager of Puffins at Sowton. I have been working with the company since November 2016 and have 10 years experience working with children. I also hold a Level 3 childcare qualification.

Puffins at Sowton are tucked away at the top end of Falcon Road, on the Sowton industrial estate just off junction 30 of the M5. It is situated right next to the Park and Ride service and the Digby/Sowton train station. The nursery has an allocated parking zone outside of the nursery to make dropping off and collecting children safe and stress free. The car park is beyond an automatic barrier and is shared with the Halcrow group. The close proximity of the local park and ride facilities is a real bonus for families, especially if you work in the city centre.

The setting benefits from a large open plan space divided for under 2’s, 2-3’s and pre-school children, ensuring smooth transitionssow babies5 in a warm and inviting atmosphere. We value our partnerships with parents and work together to ensure children receive consistent care routines. Our ethos is all about the child and for them to make decisions about their own learning and development. Our key worker systems ensure that every child’s needs are met and that they are planned for during their nursery week.

Children have access to a large outdoor area where they can explore and be safe in the differing environments. There is a large paved area with bikes, scooters and playhouses; there is a willow tunnel and a shaded woodland area where children can play amongst the trees, with logs, tyres and a rope swing. There is also a small decked area. During the week, children are taken for walks and visits in the area such as local parks. Children enjoy a varied menu, using locally sourced produce and all food is cooked on site by our cook Nicole Mills.
