Picture of JasonMy name is Jason Gibson, I am the manager at Newton House. I currently hold a Level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development, with 10 years childcare experience. My Deputy Manager, Amy Hawkins, is our Preschool Room Leader and holds a B.A Honours Degree in Early Childhood Studies.

Puffins at Newton House was first opened in 2002. It operates from a semi-detached house on the outskirts of Torquay, close to Torbay hospital and the John Parkes Unit. We are based on the Number 12 bus route and are very close to the Willows shopping centre, and within striking distance of the Paignton Ring road. We also have our own car park for your ease of access.

Newton House boasts a great team of professionals who are dedicated to your child’s care, learning and development. We appreciate that each child is an individual having their own unique likes, dislikes and abilities. We therefore use a key worker system to ensure that your child’s needs are met on an individual basis with a dedicated member of staff who is committed to achieving the best outcomes for your child. Our staff hold basic food hygiene, safeguarding and manual handling qualifications as well as their childcare qualifications and First Aid. All our staff are dedicated to continuing professional development to improve our practice, we also freely welcome feedback from our families so we can improve our services to you.

The youngest children aged from three months to two years are accommodated in a small self-contained baby unit at the rear of the main house. The two to three year olds use the large ground floor room in the main house and the pre-school children are accommodated on the first floor. The fully enclosed rear garden is used for outdoor play which encourages physical development, investigation and outdoor exploration. Children are also taken on walks and outings locally to explore the world around them.IMG_3336
