Puffins at Manston Terrace Recommended on daynurseries.co.uk

My name is Karen Richards and I am the manager of Puffins at Manston Terrace.  I hold a Level 5 in Management and Leadership. The Deputy Manager and Baby Room leader is Becky Broom, who holds a Foundation Degree in Early Years.

We are a 56 place nursery that is situated over 2 stories of a Victorian House in a cul-de-sac area of Oftsed_Outstanding_Logothe city. The building suggests a homely atmosphere, with a large attached garden that is used in all weathers. Our location also gives us the opportunity to go out on walks and trips as we have several local parks nearby. We are also within walking distance of the library, bus station, train station and Museum to name a few.

We are delighted to have been awarded OUTSTANDING again. (see Ofsted report link)

Our Babies (3 – 24 months) are catered for in their own cosy room. The baby room staff are trained in baby massage and have plenty of experience catering for the youngest of children. They are skilled in bringing education to a very caring environment.

The Bumblebees (24 – 36 months) have a room at the rear of the building with the attached garden, which gives the children the opportunity to learn inside and outside. The resources have a gradual increase in the challenge that they provide for the children, and the practitioners are skilled in encouraging the children to use the best of their abilities.

Our Pre-school is specifically designed to enhance the learning and development and is led by a Primary School teacher and her team. This is on the first floor and has spacious rooms to develop school readiness. The team is supported by a dedicated Preschool leader holding a Foundation Degree in Early Years and a BA in Educational Studies.

We also have a 30 place Holiday Club that is situated in the basement of Manston Terrace and provides day care in the school holidays, with planned activities inside and out. The holiday club provides fresh fruit, a hot meal and a light tea.

As a team we are dedicated to providing the best care and education whilst taking into account the needs of our families. We also strive to make strong links with schools and other professionals to cater for every child’s needs.  We are always open for comments and suggestions and our aim is to get to know every family so that we can support your child.

Our staff are highly qualified and have a range of qualifications including BA in Educational studies and a Foundation Degree, qualifications in Children’s Care, Learning and Development at Level 4, Level 3 and Level 2. Some staff also have a Level 3 qualification in Leadership and Management. All staff participate in continuous professional development, including degree level qualifications, Early Years Teacher Status and updates of statutory training.
