Puffins at Clystheath Recommended on

My name is Charlotte Hernandez and I am the manager of Puffins at Clystheath, which opened in 1995. I have worked for the company for 3 years. I hold an NVQ 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development and I am currently working towards a level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership.

The nursery is situated in a converted chapel within the Clystheath housing development on the outskirts of Exeter. The premises offer two separate Oftsed_Outstanding_Logoentrance lobbies leading into the chapel. The open-plan setting is separated into three learning areas. The secure nursery also has a garden area in which children are encouraged to play all year round. As well as the garden area children are taken on trips to local parks and green areas which are enjoyable for children and adults alike. We also enjoying using public transport to get out further into the community, visiting the City’s museum and library.

SONY DSCThe staff are highly qualified, and our teaching is led by Rachel Bamford, an Early Years Teacher. Other staff have a range of qualifications including BA in Early Years, and qualifications in Children’s Care, Learning and Development at Level 3 and Level 2. Some staff also have a Level 3 qualification in Leadership and Management. All staff participate in continuous professional development, including degree level qualifications, Early Years Teacher Status and updates of statutory training.

Puffins at Clystheath empowers the children to learn and develop using their imagination. We encourage the children to lead their learning, incorporating their interests and experiences into our everyday activities. We provide a safe and welcoming environment, where the children have the confidence to use their own voice and explore. The staff are dedicated to providing a high level of care and learning. As a team we strive to meets the needs of the children and families, working in partnership with parents and carers to achieve the best for the children.
